Three Ideal Styles for Your Residential Plantation Shutters

There are different suitable treatments for residential windows with regard to costs, brand, types and purposes. The perfect choice for your home should depend on aspects such as style preferences, your budget and even the location of the windows. One option that works well in both traditional and modern structures is the plantation shutters.

This type of window covering consists of a sturdy frame with operable louvers fitted onto the structure. These will allow you to control natural light, your interior privacy and even the ventilation through your windows. In addition, you can select different designs to suit your décor and applications. Here are the primary plantation shutter styles to think about installing in your home.

Half Shutters

As implied, half shutters are designed and fabricated to cover only half of the window feature. Normally, the lower half is the section covered by the plantation shutters. This is an ideal choice if you are primarily interested in privacy without losing light. It is particularly an appropriate product in rooms where curtains cannot be utilised, such as the shower room or bathroom.

If you want this type of versatility in other residential rooms, you should consider choosing divider rail shutters. These plantation shutters are designed to cover the entire window, so they will provide uniformity. However, the louvers in the upper and lower half of the shutters can be moved independently. This will provide enhanced flexibility with regard to privacy, light and ventilation.

Bi-folding Shutters

You can choose bi-folding shutters for the large windows in your residential property. These are flexible, visually appealing and easy to operate by swinging, particularly during cleaning and maintenance. The bi-folding shutter is designed and built as a single unit product, with two different framed sections that can be folded into a pair. These shutters are suitable for your home if you like opening the windows completely for a clear view across the glass. You can choose variants of the bi-folding shutters, including tri-folding and quad-folding plantation shutters.

Split Tilt Rod Shutters

Split tilt rod shutters are an ideal alternative to divider rail alternatives, especially for the general living rooms. The main drawback of the divider rail is the discontinuity created by the dividing elements. This interferes with aesthetics and even the flow of light.  This split tilt rod consists of louvers in an uninterrupted panel, and it allows the upper and lower louvers to be opened and shut independently. This will create more uniformity in your residential space.
